I found this really great site that I thought you could learn a lot from. Please take some time to look at the way it uses colors and backgrounds! And, for those of you who may have forgotten to find a site to review, here's one that I found that you can't use (nah-nah-na-nah-nah!) Oh, alright, if you're stuck and you can't find one, go ahead and use it. But you better do a great job of reviewing it, or else. Remember, it's due in your weblogs on Monday.

From the Activism-R-Us Dept: I know that this will probably not make any sense to you, but you know that Friday is "Black Friday," the busiest shopping day of the year, right? Well, if you took my Media and Information Literacy class, you'd know that corporate America has an incredible influence on our lives, a lot of it very negative. So, here's a thought...

Hump Day....already! Just a couple of reminders today. First, please make sure that you think about some consistent elements on your practice sites. Fonts and colors are the two easiest ways to do this. If you follow these guidelines to create good web pages you'll be okay. I would also suggest you check to make sure you're not making a dorky site. Second, please remember to give credit to the places that you take your graphics from. Third, please make sure you are saving all of your information in the same folder.

By Monday, you need to have your first review posted. Remember, you should pick personal sites that include portfolios. Try searching your favorite text based engine for words like "portfolio", "resume", "goals" etc. This is a graded assignment, and points will be deducted if you get it on your log late. Homework, ladies and gentleman! Please get it done, and do it well.

Having said all that, get to work!

Short Week! We're going to start making some pages this week. That means you have to start putting together some content, so please be thinking about what you want to collect in terms of artifacts for your portfolios.

Today, we're going to start making some very basic webpages using Netscape Composer. I'll show you how to do the basics, and then you're going to spend the next couple of days creating a mini website. You'll need to create a new folder in you P: Drives called "(login)site" where "login" is YOUR login name. All of the files you use in your site must be saved in this folder. We're going to go over how to create backgrounds, modify text, add lines, etc. I'll also show you how to use some graphics from the Internet. And, if time permits, we'll start using the digital camera to take pictures for your pages. By Wednesday, you will have a four page site dedicated to the topic of your choice (hobby, musical group, etc.) You should be able to break up your topic into unique areas so that you can create specific pages for those areas. (Obviously, one page will be your home page.)

Then, next week, we start on your "real" sites, although you can probably use what you do over the next couple of days.
