We're baaaacck! Welcome to our new home here on the HC server. I know it's not a big deal for you, but for me...golly, I don't know if I can put it into words! (Remember, I have no life!) Please make sure you bookmark this spot. I know the address is a bit more complex, but I know you can deal with it.

Ok, so here are some updates: This weekend I'm going to be checking your weblogs to make sure you have: Review #2, letters to mentors, any replies. (By the way, you should be telling your mentors that you will be getting back to them next week with your first request.) Today, we're going to be forming our groups and getting some identity. We need groups of three...should I let you pick them or should I? You will need to come up with a name for your "company" and create a home page for it. (You may want to look at some of your mentor sites.) Next week, you're going to make your first contacts and get the show rolling.

Site of the Day: National Geographic They have been and are doing some of the coolest stuff around. Check out the Pearl Harbor link...all tables, all the time. Have a great weekend!

Hump Day: So here's the deal today ladies and gentlemen: You should be sending out your letters this week. Please send a copy to me too so that I know they have gone out and I'll check you off. Some of you needed to update, fix your letters. If you want me to take a look before you sent, just e-mail it to me with a note to do so. Once you get a positive response, please do two things: forward it to me and copy and paste it into your weblog. (Did I mention that we are the first truly paperless class at HC? I'm not totally convinced that this is a wonderful thing, but you never know until you try it? Any time you want to tell me what you think about it, feel free.)

Community sites: We have 23 people in this class which means 5 groups of three and 2 groups of four for the community site projects. I will make the groups because I want to make sure we have a good mix of talents. At any rate, here are the sites we have scheduled so far: Mr. Schaefer's Driver's Ed site, Mr. Belotti's Australia Project, Mrs. Yenzer's Transportation site, East Whitehouse Fire Department site, and possibly two sites from class (Alex's mom and Mike's dad). I need one more "client", or I will have you do something for me regarding Media Literacy Class. If you have an idea, you need to let me know. We'll start this on Monday.

Site O' the Day: Ok, now I'm being a nice guy. I don't have to do this, ya know. But here is a portfolio that those of you who need one might want to review. Remember they are due today. I will not do this again...I just felt nice this morning.

Ok, glad we got that m: drive thing figured out. We'll be doing that from time to time because I think a lot of you are coming up with some pretty cool ideas.

I sent you all an e-mail today giving you your status in class so far. Please don't forget you have another website review due tomorrow. Here's another pretty good example in case you've forgotten.

Site of the Day comes to us via Dan Russen who found Coolarchive. Looks like they have some interesting button and logo design capabilites. I'll show you some in class today. All together, now: "Thanks, Dan!"

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. And, I hope you all had success in writing your letters and finding potential mentors. I'll give you a few at the beginning of class to get the letter and links to your choices posted. Please don't send anything until you get the go ahead from me. For those of you who are still struggling, here's a good example from Chris Bickerstaff.

Here's the Site o' the Day: I love PBS, and their website desgin is always very cool, I think. They do awesome stuff with tables. Here's one example.

Matt sent me a cool link to some Java script applets. He'll be happy to help you if you have a problem or need guidance. Remember, try not to clutter up your site with meaningless special effects. Make sure it's tasteful!

Last but not least, a great site for Front Page tips and tricks. We'll probably do some of these together.
